India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, will be heading to Islamabad, Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit (SCO Summit 2024) on 15th and 16th October 2024. This significant event will bring together leaders from member countries to address crucial regional and global matters.
The announcement was made by Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, during a media briefing in Delhi yesterday. He confirmed Minister Jaishankar’s participation, emphasizing India’s active involvement in regional cooperation through the SCO platform.
During the briefing, Jaiswal also commented on the visit of Zakir Naik, a fugitive wanted in India, to Pakistan. He mentioned that India is โnot surprisedโ by the welcome Naik received but called it โdisappointing and condemnable.โ
The SCO Summit plays a key role in fostering cooperation on issues like security, economic development, and cultural exchange. Indiaโs participation reflects its commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, while also addressing important challenges such as terrorism.
